“ Sugarfish in the Flatiron District offers a delightful sushi experience with fresh, high-quality ingredients attentive service, and a chill relaxed ambiance. Although some options were sold out during my visit, the flexibility to create your own omakase from the à la carte menu was a great alternative. The nigiri featured well-portioned, beautifully seasoned slabs of fish, paired with rice that was flavorful though slightly delicate and prone to falling apart. Despite this minor detail, the overall quality of the meal was exceptional. The biggest drawback was the hour-long wait, but the friendly and attentive service made up for it. The staff ensured everything ran smoothly, and keep in mind all of nigiri you order does not come out at once and it might take a few minutes for the other items to get to you so you might as well eat as everything is served to you. Also please note tipping isn't included but the excellent service deserved recognition. I'm considering a return visit to explore their seasonal premium sushi, especially if they have uni or other rare offerings available. Sugarfish is a spot worth visiting for sushi enthusiasts who appreciate both quality and care. ”
“ My first dining experience at Sugarfish was pretty amazing. My friend and I arrived around 12:30 for lunch and we were seated almost immediately. The only hiccup was not getting menus when we were seated, so we had to wait a bit to finally get menus to look at. We both ordered the Nowaza Trust Me and enjoyed every course! All of their fish was so fresh and every bite was so satisfying. My top favorite sushis from this set were the chutoro sushi, yellowtail, and albacore. The last blue & dungeness crab hand roll was the perfect way to end the course and was so delicious as well. Every course came out very timely and the waitstaff were great! I would definitely come back for another meal! ”
“ We got the 'Trust me' set menu. I'm never a fan of edamame, so that was 2/10 for me. The tuna sashimi was a 10/10, hits all the right flavours. The yellow tail, nigiri, hand rolls and everything else after were alright. It's very fresh though. The dishes kept coming so def. worth your $$ The waiters were all super nice, very vibey. Honestly, so concentrated in the food and convos didn't pay too much attention to ambience. ”
“ Really good sushi for the price. I was impressed by the amount of food in the sets. I ordered the "Nozawa Trust Me" ($50) and it came with 2 appetizers, 10 pcs of sushi and 2 handrolls. The fish was thick and fresh, really good quality for the price. The only problem with my meal was that the rice on the nigiri was too warm and was falling apart. Overall, good sushi, would come back. ”
“ ARI IS THE BEST. I can't say enough about the amazing experience I had at Sugarfish NYC! Not only was the food incredible (seriously, every bite was perfection), but our server, Ari, made the night unforgettable. From the moment we sat down, she was so warm, kind, and conversational. It felt like she was genuinely excited to guide us through the menu and ensure we had the best time possible. Ari's energy and passion for what she does really shine through, and her attention to detail is unmatched. She made the whole experience feel special. Honestly, she's the kind of server that makes you want to come back, just to have her take care of you again. She is fantastic--can't recommend her enough! If you're going to Sugarfish, ask for Ari--you won't regret it! ”
“ we had "Trust Me" set lunch for $39.00 each which included: Edamame, Tuna Sashimi - ponzu and chives, Albacore Sushi - ponzu and chives, 2-pc Salmon Sushi - toasted sesame, 2-pc Toro Hand Roll, Japanese Yellowtail* Sushi - lemon, 1-pc Sea Bass Sushi - yuzu ponzu, 1-pc Blue & Dungeness Crab Hand Rollh. All served separately as available. They are very particular about rules (no soy on already sauced items!; eat the hand rolls RIGHT AWAY!) the star was efficient and friendly. My only issue is the rice isn't sticky enough to stay together when dipped in soy, which seems a basic sushi rule THEY shouldn't observe. Overall a decent lunch at not too bad of a price. ”
“ After leaving a previous review on yelp, their team kindly reached out to me and asked me to give them another try assuring better service - so my friends and I did. The sushi, as always, was very tasty. The albacore, and the crab handrolls were my favorite. Quality was excellent - no doubt some of the best raw fish in the city. The service was better this time - waters were filled, ginger was replaced, we were even given free sushi, otoro and albacore, which was very very kind of them. However, it still felt very frantic. Waiters were literally running from the kitchen stand to the tables with plates in their hands, my friend asked for lemons and they forgot (reminded them and they brought some), plates were still slammed depending on the rush, and our soy sauce jar hadn't been cleaned. Having said this, the manager and our main waiter were very kind and tried to make us happy which I really appreciated despite their chaotic night. Sugarfish is great but for me, Kazu Nori will still be the go-to; it's a calmer environment with a more organized concept. 4.5 stars would be accurate. ”
“ As a fan of Kazunori, I knew that Sugarfish wouldn't disappoint! I came with a friend and fellow kazunori fan for an early dinner, and we were thankfully seated really quickly around 5:30pm. About 30 mins later, the restaurant was packed! We both decided on the Trust Me ($46), and it came with a decent amount of food! I looove the ponzu sauce that they put, which provides the perfect amount of acidity without overpowering the fish. Favorite pieces include the yellowtail and albacore, and the toro and crab handrolls. I was just about full, but needed a little something more to feel satisfied, so I got an additional bay scallop hand roll ($7). My friend ordered another crab handroll - this was seriously so good. Our final total came out to about $63pp (no tipping here). Probably a bit on the pricier end for the amount of food, but everything was really fresh. I personally prefer kazunori a bit more for its value & handrolls, but I enjoyed Sugarfish! Ambiance is casual - perfect for a quick dinner! ”
“ Super nice staff. Food courses were brought out at a nice pace. We had the $50 Nozawa lunch option that came with several courses. It was a good value. It was tasty and nice option. Every course had tasty and fresh fish. The only issue was the rice fell apart with several pieces, I like it more sticky. The service and value here are very good. Especially considering this is a no tip restaurant. It's great to see happy servers who are paid appropriately by their employer and don't depend on randoms to tip. The service was excellent! I don't live nearby anymore, so I don't think I'll visit again. But it was a great 1 time experience! ”
